In an effort to achieve a personal goal of mine (maintain physical fitness and dominance over my children until I am 60 years old), I woke up this morning and joined my workout group for our 5:45am start.
Following the 45 minute, bootcamp-style workout on the frigid shores of Lake Erie, I and 25 other dads knelt together and prayed.
For those not there, this morning had a “feel like” temperature of 19 degrees with at least a 15 knot breeze off of the lake. I was in shorts and a long-sleeved shirt, so at the end of the 45 minutes, I was both sweaty and cold.
But as I knelt there, I didn’t focus on the wind or how cold I was, I took the time to acknowledge the blessings in my life. This reminded of a Daily Stoic reading from earlier in the week.
The topic was You Are Blessed and I found it to be a great reminder of the blessings each and every one of us have in life. Click here to read more.
As we celebrate the upcoming holidays Easter, Passover, and Ramadan, I would encourage you to identify your own blessings. And trust me, if you look hard enough, you will find them.
